Meet the Founders

 A few years ago, our co-founders, Ram and Jeremy, decided to combine Jeremy’s exasperation at toxic corporate management with Ram’s massive brain to change the shape leadership for the better. You can check them out on LinkedIn by clicking on their respective photos.

 

 

Amongst our team today we can claim experience ranging from investment banking to 1 man digital start ups, a PHD, an array of MBAs and published research.

We get neuroscience, we get the realities of business in small and large organisations, and – above all – we are passionate about helping more leaders to care, and leaders to care more by establishing the RBX Index as a standard performance measure.

How We Measure: The RBX Index

Over 10 years of study and working with businesses worldwide, we have developed our own intelligence system containing millions of data points and advanced algorithms which only needs 5 inputs from a leader and their team to produce a quantitative experience measurement in the form of a leadership score – the RBX Index – that we have proven to correlate with business performance. The RBX Index can be used to objectively compare leadership across different leaders within a business, across an industry and, most importantly, track how a leader develops over time.

  • Most “surveys” engage your neo-cortex (the part of the brain where you think)
  • Thinking is the result of feelings, emotions and, at your core, your values. These are all controlled from the limbic brain, where RiddleBox focus. This is why many “surveys” can be cheated and fail to reveal true insights
  • As a human, your actions and behaviours are influenced by your core values
  • Values result in experiences which are shaped constantly going forward
  • Measuring just 5 dimensions of the leadership experience enables past behaviour to be explained, future behaviour to predicted, and – above all – provides direction for the leader in achieving true self-awareness and alignment to their team

Leader or Manager?

One of the drivers for us at RiddleBox is to develop managers into leaders.
What does this mean?

 

A quick Google search will reveal an array of content around the difference between leaders and managers. The common understanding is that “management” only really rose as a concept in the mid 20th century as “business” became more complicated and demanded more formal organisation of tasks, people and processes. “Leadership” has been present since the dawn of human civilisation, most obviously in tribal, military and religious contexts. Generally, an organisation has many managers. However, identifying the leaders in an organisation, and utilising their leadership, can be the key to unlocking the full potential value of the human capital within it. Perhaps the following statements help to clarify the theoretical distinction further:

Managers need not be good leaders and leaders need not be good managers

Managers are perceived to operate rationally whilst good leaders always operate volitionally

Managers seldom question what they are expected to do whilst leaders are expected to deliberate before acting

Managers make things happen… leaders inspire managers to deliver…

Managers focus on here and now… leaders focus on the future and beyond

Management is enhanced by competence training.. leadership is enhanced by people skills…

It’s been a great pleasure working with Jezz and Ram from RiddleBox  They led an Our Purpose workshop with the leadership team of a large Client Services organisation made up of over 600 people in December 2017.  This short, impactful session, based on deep research and delivered in an engaging and energetic way was a true catalyst for change with the leadership team from the moment they created their personalised purpose statement.  This group of seasoned professionals started to behave differently straight away and I witnessed them genuinely become a team.  They took ownership of their purpose and cleverly started to reinforce a subliminal shift in mind-set, focused on pride and challenge, across the whole team.  The purpose statement became a touch stone for them as they developed events and faced obstacles together and every one of them adapted the way they led their teams to bring the purpose alive.

Just 2 months after the Our Purpose session all employees across BT were invited to complete an employee engagement survey and the results for this team were nothing short of stellar.  This was, I believe, in large part due to the Our Purpose workshop and follow-on activities.  The team improved the engagement scores for every single question in the survey, they saw a 24% improvement in the question asking whether the team had seen positive changes since the last survey, the overall leadership score improved by 21% and they had the largest improvement in scores for any large team across 2 divisions of our company made up of more than 30,000 people.
